Destroying evidence:Udupi journalist style

Any professional journalist worth his salt understands the importance of evidence in any police investigation. While Umesh Marpally and Sujith Sreejith of Udupi Channel rushed to police after being thrown out of emergency room for obstructing treatment of patients and taking nude photos of patients, they submitted the supposed damaged cameras to police only the next day.

If Umesh Marpally and Sujith Sreejith Udupi Channel have nothing to hide why did they submit evidence to police hours after the incident? What did they wanted to erase from the camera? Are the rumours about nefarious activities of these duo blackmailing people with embarrassing photos true? Heck, even the cameras in question may have been replaced by some camera taken from junkyard / gujari store?

Will police kindly investigate why the evidence was submitted to them after a such a long delay and what was done to the equipment by Umesh Marpally and Sujith Sreejith during that time?
