Anyone who is interested in upholding ethical media values and privacy of citizens are welcome to join us.

WHY YET ANOTHER JOURNALIST ORGANISATION?

During this blog’s existence in last couple of weeks, we have received unbelievable support from readers as well as professional journalists who are sick of blackmailers and perverts tarnishing their profession’s name. So when we mooted Peoples Rights Group, many asked why not fight the rot within journalism community? That got us thinking and here we are with “Pragatipara Patrakartara Vedike”.

In addition to what we have listed in “About Peoples Rights Group” page, following will be the mandate of “Pragatipara Patrakartara Vedike“:

– uphold media ethics and respect privacy of citizens

– expose corrupt elements of media to bring respect back to journalism as a profession.

– mentor young media professionals

– expose blackmailing tactics of evening newspapers of Coastal Karnataka and their links with anti-social elements

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER JOURNALIST ASSOCIATIONS?

– Unlike other Press Clubs we do not intend to collect money from members or misuse government money.

– Pragatipara Patrakartara Vedike is open to journalists as well as readers. We don’t understand how a media organisation can function without active involvement of their target audience. So in the lines of highly succesful “Readers’ Editor” concept of “The Gaurdian UK”, “The Hindu”, “BBC” we consider readers and citizens as part of organisation. So anyone who is in media or just readers or watches news can join this organisation.

Currently scope of this organisation is limited to Coastal Karnataka. With the support we have received from journalists across the state, don’t be surprised if we announce statewide organisation in next few weeks.

If you are interested in upholding the integrity of media and want to join us please send an email to udupipressvictim@gmail.com. Membership is open to all working journalists and readers/citizens of Coastal Karnataka.
